Make Notes |
I find making notes is important. First of all the writing down process will help the recall process of itself. Even if you don't refer to them later.
Of course when you have the notes one can refer back to them in the critical thinking process. Which aids evaluation and decision making.

Mind Mapping by Tony Buzan is another approach to notes- it includes visual association.
To me mind mapping is very like building a very large web-project like Brindle Style. You start from somewhere and then expand. That's the creative generator in action. Who knows what ideas will crop up? Some of them useful others not, it does not matter at the development stage. Evaluation of the ideas comes later.
I started out with an underlying theme of culturial conciliation on the common grounds of cultural practise. We love music and stories, singing and dancing and art and history and family etc.
Over the years it clarifies and expands rather like a mind map does. For example the Brindle Style community is not that interested in visual arts - yet the photography aspect is huge. We love to engage with something that has meaning in our lives. Ourselves, our mates and community events. Subject wise voluntary simplicity is a far greater drawcard than I would have guessed. (Before any talk of 'recession) People reduce materialism -from a desire for meaning. more
And who would have known before the map was drawn that the artists are going to rebel against corporate exploitation of community creativity. That professional development would become a central focus of this project. |
